Melissa Young
LCPC, Insomnia specialist
If your sleep hasn't been great lately, whether that's difficulty drifting off, waking frequently, or feeling exhausted no matter how long you stay in bed, you don't have to keep pushing through alone. Many sleep problems may be linked to stress, burnout, anxiety, shifting life demands, or patterns of overthinking at night… but I'm here to tell you there's hope!
Hi, I'm Melissa. I'm a Northwestern University-trained therapist on a mission to help people dramatically improve their quality of life by restoring the one foundation everything else rests upon: consistent, restful sleep.
Together we'll engage in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), an evidence-based therapeutic approach that helps retrain your mind and body for more regular and restorative sleep. Alongside CBT-I, I will also draw from psychodynamic theory, and together we'll go deep to help you better understand the emotional and behavioral patterns keeping you stuck in all relevant areas of your life, including your sleep.
My approach is warm, real, practical, and collaborative. We will focus on restoring reliable sleep while also helping you feel more grounded, at peace, and better equipped to move through your days successfully.

About Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I)
CBT-I is considered the gold standard for treating chronic insomnia. This evidence-based approach addresses the underlying causes of sleep problems rather than just treating symptoms. Our specialists work with you to identify and change thoughts and behaviors that cause or worsen sleep problems, replacing them with habits that promote sound sleep and improved well-being.
Treatment typically includes sleep restriction, stimulus control, cognitive restructuring, sleep hygiene education, and relaxation techniques. Most patients experience significant improvement within 6-8 sessions, with benefits that last long after treatment ends, unlike medication-based approaches.
Our office is located at 111 N Wabash Ave, Chicago IL 60602. Because some of our providers are telehealth-only, we don't accept walk-ins.
